To Lauren's family,

I feel the need to talk to you, to tell you what I saw in Lauren. It is the one true thing I know about her: she was beautiful. By that I mean she was full of beauty. Her smile, her energy, her dedication, her enthusiasm - she was simply beautiful.

Lauren's English notebook includes personal writing that you may wish to save. My heart breaks as I write this - her first assignment was a eulogy; how she would wish to be remembered. Perhaps this is something you'll wish to read. Her notebook is among her personal belongings.

Words are often useless, devoid of value. While I feel the helplessness of my own words, they are the best I can offer you.

She will be missed.
